A little bit late, but happy New Year! Because it has been a while again since my last blog post, and especially since the last time I told what I am working on personally, a post which looks back on December and at the same time one with a few short updates on how I'm doing.

Briefly said, December wasn't a great month. I didn't look forward much on starting with my second book and that caused me being a bit sad for over a week. In the end I decided to start on my book earlier than planned, and luckily this helped for a moment. If you have followed the log of the word count then you probably have noticed that the work has stopped again, which again makes me restless. I have managed to finish the first chapter around the turn of the year, so the start has been made, but on this moment I can't manage to continue.

One of the reasons for it, or perhaps a consequence because of the stress, is that I am currently not feeling fine physically. I have a nasty cough for the past week or two that just will not go away and because of the many coughs I get headaches, my stomach hurts and I sleep badly. Because of the bad sleeping and because of the holidays I have a shifted and irregular sleep rhythm, but I'm already working on fixing that. When I have my sleep rhythm under control again I hope that I will manage to write each day again, and if the stress because of my book is gone, I hope I will quickly get better. We shall see.

Another reason is because I have been quite busy and partly still am. This is partly because the world championship darts in the second half of the past month, but this has ended since past Monday and thus I hope to have some more time. I also started on a new project with a few others that consumes much of my time. I cannot say much about it, but it suffices to know that I am programming a lot with PHP again and I hope that within a few months it will be a small source of income.

December was also not a pleasant month due to the holidays. Whatever is attempted to make of Christmas and New Year, it often becomes a letdown. There were also plenty of fun moments of course, but because of a personal problem I have right now, I would have preferred that these holidays weren't there this year. I don't want to say more about it, but this also caused that work on my book stopped.

As I predicted it was a quiet month for music and games. The only new music I have is a new album by a small band that I sometimes listen to, Nekrogoblikon, but this album came out in June aleady and so it was just like New Keepers of the Water Towers last month that I found out late that they had released something new. Also on the game area it has been quiet. I temporarily stopped Skyrim, partly because of the busy times and partly because I just played too much, and I still have to start with Assassin's Creed Revelations, although I finally have it now, thanks to my sister and her boyfriend who gave it as a present for Christmas.

I guess I will stay busy for the comming time, so I do not expect that I will be posting a lot in January, unless something big comes up in the news that I have an opinion on just like last time. Meanwhile, I will also do some minor updates to the site and try to activate the domain names. I think I will post a retrospect post in February again, so see you in a month!

Een beetje laat, maar nog gelukkig Nieuwjaar! Aangezien het alweer een tijdje terug is sinds mijn laatste blogpost, en al helemaal sinds ik liet weten waar ik persoonlijk mee bezig ben, even een post die terugblikt op december en gelijk een met een aantal korte updates over hoe het gaat.

Kort gezegd was december geen fijne maand. Ik hikte een beetje tegen het beginnen met mijn tweede boek aan en dat zorgde ervoor dat ik me zeker een goede week eigenlijk vrij verdrietig voelde. Uiteindelijk ben ik maar vroeger dan gepland aan mijn boek begonnen, en dit hielp gelukkig even. Als je het logboek van de woordentelling hebt gevolgd dan heb je waarschijnlijk gemerkt dat het werk inmiddels weer gestokt is, wat mij opnieuw onrustig stemt. Ik heb het eerste hoofdstuk rond de jaarwisseling af weten te ronden, dus het begin is gemaakt, maar op dit moment lukt het me niet om verder te gaan.

Een van de redenen daarvoor, of misschien juist een gevolg door de stress, is dat ik me op het moment lichamelijk niet fijn voel. Ik heb alweer een week of twee een nare hoest die maar niet goed loskomt en door mijn vele gehoest krijg ik ook last van hoofdpijn en mijn buik en slaap ik slecht. Door het slechte slapen en door de feestdagen heb ik ook een verschoven en onregelmatig nachtritme, maar ik ben alweer bezig om deze te herstellen. Wanneer ik mijn nachtritme weer onder controle heb hoop ik dat het me weer lukt om dagelijks weer te gaan schrijven, en als de stress over mijn boek weer weg is hoop ik dat ik snel weer beter zal worden. We zullen zien.

Een andere reden is omdat ik nogal druk geweest ben en dat ten dele nog steeds ben. Dit komt deels vanwege het wereldkampioenschap darten dat in de tweede helft van de maand is geweest, maar dit is sinds afgelopen maandag voorbij en dus hoop ik daardoor weer wat meer tijd te hebben. Ik ben echter ook met een paar anderen aan een nieuw project begonnen dat veel van mijn tijd in beslag neemt. Ik kan er niet veel over zeggen, maar het volstaat om te weten dat ik hierdoor weer veel met PHP aan het programmeren ben en ik hoop dat het binnen een aantal maanden een kleine inkomstenbron zal worden.

December is ook geen fijne maand geweest vanwege de feestdagen. Wat er ook geprobeerd wordt om van Kerst en Nieuwjaar te maken, het blijkt bij mij vaak weer tegen te vallen. Natuurlijk waren er ook genoeg leuke momenten, maar door een persoonlijk probleem wat ik op dit moment heb had ik liever gehad dat deze feestdagen er niet waren geweest dit jaar. Meer wil ik er niet over kwijt, maar ook dit heeft ervoor gezorgd dat het op het moment niet wilt vlotten met mijn boek.

Zoals ik al voorspeld had is het een rustige maand geweest voor muziek en games. De enige nieuwe muziek die ik heb is een nieuw album van een kleine band waar ik soms naar luister, Nekrogoblikon, maar dit album kwam al in juni uit en het was dus net als met New Keepers of the Water Towers vorige maand dat ik pas laat erachter kwam dat ze iets nieuws uitgebracht hadden. Ook op gamevlak is het rustig geweest. Ik ben tijdelijk gestopt met Skyrim, deels vanwege de drukte en deels omdat ik het gewoon even teveel gespeeld heb, en ik moet nog steeds beginnen met Assassin's Creed Revelations, al heb ik hem nu wel hier liggen, dankzij mijn zus en haar vriend die cadeau deden voor Kerst.

Ik zal komende tijd gok ik nog wel even druk blijven, dus ik verwacht niet dat ik in januari wel veel zal posten, tenzij er weer iets groots in het nieuws komt waar ik een mening over heb zoals laatst. Ondertussen zal ik ook nog wat kleine updates aan deze site maken en proberen mijn domeinnamen te activeren. Ik zal denk ik in het begin van februari weer met een terugblikpost komen, dus tot over een maand!
